The Wanted @ Summertime Ball

Aw, my boys. I hardly actually know anyone personally who likes them apart from me and my cousin. People can take the piss out of them and say that 'their not as good as One Direction' and they might not be in the charts (but really, the charts are a load of crap because some right trash gets to No.1 sometimes!) anyway, I am proud to have watched them grow to what they are now, I shall always be 110% behind them and i'll always be ready at any given moment to go and stand outside some hotel or radio station to say hi to them!
They played their 3rd gig at the summertime ball today and I remember two years ago when they went on with All Time Low and they couldn't believe that they had even been picked to perform! I have always been gutted that I don't live in London and going to this gig is one of the reasons why, I would have loved to see them there today with some of my favourite artists such as Ed Sheeran, Katy Perry + Coldplay!
New band Lawson also played at the gig and I can see them going in the same route to be a big success in the future.

Rudimental at No.1!

I am extremely happy that Rudimental got to Number 1 on Sunday! I have loved this song for months and I predicted that it would be a big summer song at hopefully get to the top of the charts back in April when I had it as my 'Record Of The Week'

Also it has been released at they will be all this years Hackney Weekend on the day that I am going! - well chuffed.

Graffiti6 - Stare Into The Sun

My friend told me about this band a few hours ago whilst she was looking at a playlist and I did think they sound kinda like Gnarls Barkley but apparently they are known for their 'Gnarls Barkley-esque blend of characterful voice and crisp, intricate groove created from an infectious alliance of electric piano and offbeat guitar'

Flo Rida...

'Can you blow my whistle baby?'
I know it's absolute trash but I do really love this song and it's really catchy! I always think I'll hate his songs because the music snob in me tries to come out but I end up loving them. It's a weird one.

There is nothing wrong with a bit of chav every now and again...

Record Of The Week 10

3rd June 2012 Park Bench Society - Room No. 66

I absolutely love these, I only heard of them the other day but I do think that they're brilliant. I heard of them through Huw Stevens on Radio 1 for BBC Introducing and I love the fact that they use a xylophone in their music and it is so central to their sound which makes them different to any other new band abround at the moment. One of my favourites is 'Down By The Bus Shelter' off their EP 'Forest Gate' and I think they'll be big, I can't believe they're like 16 and sound so good - Imagine what they'll sound like in 5 years time!

Maximo Park Tour!

AAAH! Maximo Park are touring in November - I need to see them so badly, they're playing the Ritz in Manchester and I must go.
I just need to find somebody who likes them to come with me.

Tickets go on sale at 9am of Friday!

Record Of The Week 09

27th May 2012 Aiden Grimshaw - Is This Love

I didn't think that someone from the X Factor could produce a genuinely good song of this genre but Aiden Grimshaw has done it. When I first heard his new one ' Is This Love' I didn't think it was actually him and I was so shocked when I found out! I absolutely love this song and hopefully Aiden will have a great career ahead of him as this song is a comfortable distance away from the muddled material that X Factor contestants usually deliver. It deserves to be a chart smash.

Hackney Weekend - 28 days to go!

My tickets came yesterday for my first festival type thing of the summer - I also got V Fest tickets for my birthday a couple of weeks ago that I don't think I posed on here! I cannot wait for Hackney, I am constantly lisening to Radio 1 at the moment (I pretty much do that anyway) to see if they announce anything because there is another 'special guest' for the day that i'm going (Saturday)

Anyway, I look like an absolute pleb on the photo because I was in such a rush to get them but as long as they can tell that the pleb on the ticket is me it'll be all good!

Record Of The Week 08

20th May 2012 Josh Osho - Redemption Days ft. Ghostface Killah

I was going to choose Maximo Park's new song as my record of the week this week as I love it too much, i've been wating so long for something new from them but then I heard this song a couple of weeks ago and only again recently when he was on Jools Holland, this song just makes me smile, it sounds cheesy but it does and I don't really know why but I love it and this man is going to be big!

Happy Birthday Morrissey!

Stephen Patrick Morrissey turns 53 today! His album 'You Are The Quarry' was my favourite when I was about 8 and many of The Smiths' songs because my dad would play them all the time! He is a massive influence to many as me, Happy Birthday Mozza!

Revison + Dommy Rae Slapson

I'm supposed to be revising now and for the next two weeks so I probably won't be posting much. So I shall be a loner all weekend with just a few Rowntrees Fruit Gums to keep me company although I have done my R.E and French exams so all of this can go in the bin!

Also, I listen to The Chris Moyles show every morning and this is the song at the moment that just cheers me right up! Dominic Byrne does the parody of Cary Rae Jepson's 'Call Me Maybe' called 'Don't Call Me Baldy!'

Record Of The Week 07

13th May 2012 Nina Nesbitt - The Apple Tree

I heard of Nina Nesbitt late last year when she was linked to Ed Sheeran and he then sang one of her songs when I saw him in January, which was amazing. Also their cover of 'Hallelujah' which was performed at Shepherds Bush Empire in London last year gave me gossebumps and is definately worth a watch! I originally heard this song a few weeks ago and didn't know who it was and then again this week when Fearne Cotton played in on radio 1 which made me fall in love with it and her voice, she'll be big in a few months!

Wretch 32 ft. Ed Sheeran - Hush Little Baby

Wretch 32 ft. Ed Sheeran. I first heard this song on The Review Show on Radio 1 on a Wednesday a few weeks ago and it instantly made me wish that i'd bought Wretch's album so I could've heard it earlier. Ed Sheerans vocals make this song and it gives me goosebumps everytime I hear him singing his part. I love his voice and it instantly makes any song a hit.

Ben Howard Live Lounge!

I listened to Ben Howard's live lounge secretly in Physics yesterday without coming in contact with the teacher and I heard this amazing cover of Carly Rae Jepson's Call Me Maybe (which is a decent pop tune in its own right)
He made the song sound like his own and I heard most of it before the teacher confiscated my phone...

Record Of The Week 06

6th May The Heartbreaks - Delay, Delay
I only heard about The Heartbreaks on Friday when they were featured in this weeks Manchester Evening News but after listening to quite a few of their songs I can tell that they're going to be big this year. The Heartbreaks' album came out yesterday and it's great, I don't usually venture out to HMV for many albums but i'm glad that I did for this one. My favourite song of theirs is 'Jealous, Don't You Know' (and also 'Polly') although their new single 'Delay, Delay' is one of the best from 'Funtimes'

Record Of The Week 05

29th April 2012 Spector - Celestine

This is a great indie tune and all I hear at the moment is 'nobody listens to guitar bands anymore' yes they do! I've seen this band live when they supported Florence + The Machine in February along with The Horrors and if i'm honest, Spector were 100x better than The Horrors and although I had never heard them before, their songs got the whole of the M.E.N Arena bouncing about. I must see this band again sometime soon!

Record Of The Week 04

22nd April 2012 Dry The River - New Ceremony + Wretch 32 ft. Ed Sheeran - Hush Little Baby

I've chosen two songs this week because I think they are both amazing in their own right. They are completely different, first I heard New Ceremony's song a few weeks ago but didn't know what it was called until earlier this week when I heard it on xfm. Great song!

The Cavern Club - Liverpool!

I recently went to Liverpool to have a look around as i've never been before. As we tried to get into The Beatles museum after we realised Liverpool was just like Manchester but with a view of the river Mersey we realised we didn't have enough money so we went out to find something that was free so we stumbled across The Cavern Club. As many already know The Beatles played the first gig at The Cavern Club and it has been famous for this fact ever since. We went down the stairs and on the wall to the right was all the photos of people who have played there such as KT Tunstall, Adele and Radio 1 DJ Huw Stevens. We sat in for a while as people got up on the stage where The Beatles stood to sing their songs, it was great until the singer started flinging elastic bands at us. Around the back of the main club was a quieter section with small tables and a stage with a film on about The Beatles, you can't get away from them really.

We also went into a shop where they sold EVERYTHING that could possibly have anything to do with The Beatles, it was quite facinating really (even the carpet had a picture of them on)

Overall a great day in Liverpool!

Viva Brother split! :(

I feel like crying.

I can't believe (Viva) Brother have split up. I assume that it is after the amount of hate they have recieved from the public and press such as NME, I do love them though. I have seen this band four times and everytime they get the crowd going. And not a lot of bands do that well.

The first time I heard Brother was on the morning show 'Freshly Squeezed' with their song 'Darling Buds Of May' in late 2010 and I thought they were great from the start. The band announced that they had split up on their Official Twitter page shortly after 12noon today.  Many fans (like me) had believed that the announcement was an April Fools joke, but as everyone knows, if it's posted after 12 noon it's not a joke unfortunately.

They wrote on Twitter: 'Thank you to everyone that has ever supported us or believed. It has been an unbelievable journey. This is us signing off. Goodbye.'

Shortly after, the band then wrote that they'd 'leave you with one last song', before posting a video link to a new song titled 'I Don't Want To Be Loved' This song would be a whole new sound to Viva Brother and its a shame nobody will hear their new album which they had just finished weeks before.

The song's lyrics might give fans an insight into the band's emotions over recent months. The chorus appears to be the most revealing part, as Lee Newell sings "I don't want to be loved, but I need to be loved" and "if I snooze the alarm, will anybody notice I'm gone?".Although I am still slightly sceptical over this, because why would you record a 2nd album and finish it then decide to call it a day? I think that they have split up :(

Good Luck for the future boys,

BBCR1's Hackney Weekend!

YAY! I've secured my tickets for Saturday 23rd June on Hackney Marshes for BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend. The ticketing process was the longest i've gone through in my life (no exageration) stretching from when I registered for tickets two weeks ago. Which involved adding a photo of myself and a guest. Then realising it hadn't saved and having to start all over again. I then had to wake up on Sunday morning for 11am when I could finally get my tickets which took over an hour and a half as the website crashed, severley cutting into my coursework time.
But I finally got them and I'm going to see artists such as Jay-Z, Florence and The Machine and Example for FREE.
...a great way to say goodbye to all of the exams I have coming up in the next few months. YAY
